Brayden Lape Sings Alan Jackson’s “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” With Blake Shelton On “The Voice” | Classic Country Music | Legendary Stories and Songs Videos

Brayden Lape was a fan-favorite contestant from the start of Season 22 of The Voice. He landed on Team Blake after the auditions, and proceeded to win his battle and knockout.

From there, Voice fans voted Lape through each week of the competition until he advanced to the finale!

During the second night of the finale, Lape joined his coach Blake Shelton for a duet. They opted to sing an iconic country tune…Alan Jackson‘s “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.”

“Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” was released in 1990 as the fourth single off of Jackson’s album Here in the Real World. The song reached the second spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and claimed the fifth spot on the country chart in Canada. At the end of 1990, “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” ranked at the 48th spot on Billboard‘s year-end Country Songs chart.

“Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” has Jackson singing about his pursuit of his country music career. As the lyrics go:

“Just trying to be somebody. Just wanna be heard and seen. I’m chasing that neon rainbow, Living that honky-tonk dream.”

“Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” was a fitting song for Lape to perform on the Voice finale, since he was chasing his own country music career. His performance was made even better since Shelton was his duet partner.
