Ellen DeGeneres takes a major step in cutting ties with the US

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are among several high-profile celebrities who have decided to make a significant lifestyle change by moving abroad. The couple has reportedly relocated to the serene and picturesque Cotswolds region in southern England, seeking a quieter, more peaceful way of life.

Known for its rolling green hills, historic villages, and traditional English charm, the Cotswolds offers a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. The couple is said to have purchased an impressive property in the area worth approximately $18 million, signaling their serious intent to put down roots in the U.K.

Their decision follows a series of real estate moves in the U.S. Earlier this year, Ellen and Portia sold their expansive California estate—which featured six bathrooms and ample luxury amenities—for a reported $29.9 million. They didn’t stop there. In a continued effort to simplify and distance themselves from their former lifestyle, they also listed a smaller two-bedroom bungalow in Montecito, California. That charming property, located near the popular Butterfly Beach, quickly attracted attention. According to People magazine, it received multiple offers within just two days and sold for $5.2 million.

However, their transition to English countryside life hasn’t been entirely smooth. A source told the Daily Mail that the couple ran into a few unexpected challenges with the first property they moved into. “There was flooding initially, which was quite disruptive,” the source said. “Then came complaints from some locals regarding renovation work that was being carried out on the home.”
